As a company, we see potential in everyone, especially the next generation, they’re learning quicker and evolving the cyber industry as we know it! That’s why we love to support student ran events, especially ones such as the G3C hacking conference. This event was put on single-handedly by students at Glasgow Caledonian University, bringing in enthusiasts all over the Scottish city to come and take part in hacking-related workshops and listen to some talks from the front lines of penetration testing and more.
We sent Alex (Web Application Tester), Kyle (Web Application Tester) and Lewis (Digital Marketing Executive) to the event to meet people, speak about their experiences in the industry and ultimately gain interest from the students attending the event. Alex and Kyle attended some of the talks and all three of the team thought the event was organised incredibly well for a student-run event.
Many of the students that spoke to the team showed a huge interest in a penetration testing career, with many studying both a degree and self-teaching due to their interest in the topic. The more events such as these we attend the more we notice the increasing growth of interest in the cyber world. With a constantly evolving cyber-world, its no surprise that the younger generation is seeing the benefit of pursuing a career in this industry.
